Police Port Authority Sp. z o.o.

Police Chemical Works SA is the only Polish chemical manufacturer with access to specialist port facilities in the direct vicinity of its premises.

In terms of the amount of cargo it handles Police Seaport is the fourth largest port in Poland. Annually we handle approximately 2.5 million tonnes of cargo. The port belongs to Police Chemical Works SA and is almost exclusively dedicated to serving its needs. Police Seaport operates as a handling terminal for bulk cargos such as phosphates, apatites, ilmenite ore, potassium salt, fertilizers, ammonia and sulfuric acid.

On 22nd September, 2004 the Board of Police Chemical Works decided to set up a company to manage the land and infrastructure of its port. In October of that year a resolution to form Police Port Authority Sp. z o.o. was passed by the Police communal council. The company was registered on 23rd November, 2004 and began its operations on 1st January, 2005.

The history of Police Port

As early as 1970 the first cargo ships were mooring on the quay of the Barge Port. During the seventies the port facilities - the quays, conveyor belts, and three eight-tonne cranes - were used to serve small ships within the limits of its draught capacity. The cargoes, at that time phosphates and apatites, were transferred from bulk carriers to barges in Świnoujście and transported on to the Police factory. Eventually a titanium white plant was set up and the port began to handle imported ilmenite. Barges were also used to transport finished products.
